A treasure I found....

 I found this picture in a charity shop, its perfect in my library!                      

Wood oil on my bedroom floor.

 
I gave my bedroom floor a coat of danish wood oil today.

I love the black and white tiles!

 

Work on the ground floor bathroom started!

 
We are turning the smallest cave into a bathroom.

I finally got my wood burner installed!

 

This is going to be my wine cellar!

A big problem occurred!

We had extreme rain over a long period this winter and spring and it has caused a problem. We have discovered dry rot in a part of first and second floor walls.

The damage was discovered early and it is in a limited area but it still means we had to remove plasterboard and some wood. It is in the bathroom and a part of the wall in the living room.

The infected area will have standard treatment for dry rot which is time consuming and costly but it has to be done.

We will try to continue as much work as possible in the rest of the house while we wait for the expert to come and threat the infected walls.

I put a few pieces of furniture in the library to get a feel for the space.

Some of the furniture including a second bookcase is still in storage.

It's not glass in the doors yet but I could finally put some books in the bookcase.

The wood burning stove....

It is cold in Auzon in the winter and a wood-burning stove is needed. This is the one I chose and it will be installed this summer.

The first job was to concrete the floor, which will be covered with terracotta tiles later.

Gutter downspout replaced.

Something new from the old....

This is going to be a bookcase made from old window frames and old floorboards.
